Christopher “Chris” Liska, 60, of Lake Villa, formerly of Ingleside, passed away suddenly, Monday, January 25, 2016, at Centegra Hospital, McHenry.
He was born June 24, 1955, in Chicago, to the late Henry and Edna (nee Hedstrom) Liska. Chris married Cheryl Bruning January 15, 1977, in Dade County Florida.
Chris was a retired union carpenter, who was presently employed by Plexus of Buffalo Grove. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Fox Lake, was an avid sportsman, and especially loved being Papa to his three grandsons.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Holly (Jerad) Smith of Genoa City, WI; grandsons, Noah, Landon, and Ethan Smith; sister, Susan Liska of Highland Park; father-in-law, Carl J. Bruning of Rogers City, MI; sister-in-law, Lori (Craig) Taylor of Davison, MI; brothers-in-law, Mark (Pam) Bruning of McKinney, TX, and Wayne Bruning of Rogers City; and nieces and nephew, Morgan and Matthew Taylor and Savannah Bruning.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Delores Bruning.
The memorial visitation will be Saturday, January 30, from 2 p.m. until the time of the celebration of Chris’ life at 3 p.m., at Joyful Harvest Lutheran Church, 5050 Johnsburg, Rd., Johnsburg, IL. Pastor Douglas Liston will be the officiant. Inurnment will be private.
