George S. Hoefle, Sr., also known to many as “SONNY”, “MR. H”, “BUCK”, “UNCLE BUCK” AND “BOB THE MECHANIC,” passed away Friday, October 23, 2015, at his home.

George was born in Evanston, Illinois to the late George and Muriel Hoefle. George attended Mary Queen of Heaven elementary school in Elmhurst Illinois, his freshman and sophomore year he attended Driscoll Catholic High School and graduated from Addison Trial High School.  He was a longtime resident of Ingleside, Illinois and formerly of Round Lake.

George was a loving husband of 43 years to Denise, a very proud father to George Jr.(Stacy), Steven  and Deanna (Paul); a cherished Grandfather of two of the best grandsons, Steven Jr. & Paul Jr. and a very precious Granddaughter, Dayna.

George started his career at the age of 19, as a heavy equipment mechanic at Howell Tractor in Elk Grove Village. After 13 years at Howell, he opened up his own shop, G&S Truck and Equipment in Grayslake, Illinois. He finished his career as a service technician at CIT Trucking Inc.

George was a passionate mechanic.  Throughout the years, he successfully completed and received many certificates from construction equipment training classes. George loved the challenge of fixing anything that was broken.  He worked tirelessly in and out of the house and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to fix things themselves.

George was a selfless man who was always willing to help others, regardless of what they needed.  Everyone knew that they could always count on him for anything. You could call him anytime of the day or night and you knew he would be there for you - as long as he had his coffee, he was good to go.

George also had a soft side.  He was a big teddy bear when you just needed a hug, and provided a shoulder to cry on.  He would always reassure you by saying “everything is going to be ok”.

George was the fun dad in the neighborhood.  Whenever he was outdoors doing yardwork, all of the neighborhood kids would pitch in to help him finish so that he would be done faster and could play with them.

In addition to working a full time job and side jobs, George also volunteered many hours at St. Joseph School in Round Lake, where his children had attended.  He was also involved with all of his children’s activities and set an example for many.

Some of his hobbies were skating, bowling, snowmobiling, bike riding, and camping.  He planned some incredible camping trips with his sons and their friends.  To this day, those are some of their favorite memories of time spent with George.  He touched so many lives and will be missed by all.

The visitation will be Monday, October 26, from 3-8 p.m., with a special video tribute at 7 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  There will also be visitation Tuesday, October 27, from 10-10:30 a.m., followed by a procession to St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside, for an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial.  Burial will follow in Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.
