JoAnne (Sorlie) Turpel

JoAnne Phyllis Turpel, 89, of Johnsburg, formally of Fox Lake, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at her home.

Born January 2, 1928, in Hayward, Wisconsin to Edwin and Agnes (nee Lumbar) Sorlie, she married her late husband, William H. Turpel, on August 8, 1948.

She received great happiness being with her family and visiting with her friend, Tina.  JoAnne enjoyed visiting the McHenry Senior Center and participating in the Arts-n-Crafts, Happy Hookers, and Special Movie Days.  She also enjoyed cards, Bingo, reading, and “The Boat.”  JoAnne worked for Baxter in Round Lake until her retirement in 1990.

Survivors include her children, Diana (Bernard) Martin, Phyllis (Susan Wheeler) Weirich, and William H. (Suzanne) Turpel, Jr.; grandchildren, Stacy and Steven Martin, and Christopher, Daniel, Jenny, and Becky Turpel; and great-grandchildren, Corey, Ashley, Kyle, Mia, Lilly, and Josephine.

In addition to her husband and parents, JoAnne was preceded in death by siblings, Bud, Larry, Edna, and Camille.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to JourneyCare Hospice—especially to Israel, Nancy, Robin, Lady Di, and the many helpers they provided—for the heart-warming care and tenderness they showed JoAnne during this difficult time.  We feel they are angles walking with us on this journey called life.  Peace and love.
