Mary Louisa Deveau (nee Gale), 101, of Fox Lake, died Sunday, January 1, 2017, at her home.
Mary was born on the prairie of Manitoba, Canada March 28, 1915. She was the fifth of six girls born to Ellen (nee Wright) and John Gale. Mary trained as a secretary and worked in several places including Coventry, England; Montreal, Canada; and Lake County, Illinois. She met and married Auguste Deveau in 1943, in Montreal and had two children.
In her later years, Mary was known for her beautiful handiwork, much of which she gave to family and friends. She also volunteered at the local hospital for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five sisters.
Mary will be missed by her children, Donna-Marie (Robert) Kohler and Noel Anthony (Janice) Deveau; grandchildren, Eric Kohler, Caroline, Jonathan, and Kathryn Deveau, Kelly Beran, and Helen Lilly. Also missing her are several nieces and nephews, especially Suellen, Marc, and Leonie Glenat, and Judy Mannel.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a future date.
