Noela J. Pecenka (nee L’Herault), 88, of Lake Villa since 1957, passed away August 24, 2017, in Tucson, Arizona. She was born December 25, 1928, in Evanston, to the late Edward and Mary (nee Yeager) L’Herault.
Survivors include her children, Linda Lilly, Rosemary Hansen, and David (Camila) Hansen; special niece and friend, Mary Kane; grandchildren, Ray Lilly, Timothy Courtney, Noela-Ann (Patrick) McGee, and Justin, Jason, and Jessica Ritter; and many great-grandchildren.
Known as the “Sign-Lady” of Fairfield/Monaville Roads, Mrs. Pecenka worked at Sears in Fox Lake, Vernon Hills, and Golf Mill, and was a greeter at Sam’s Club in Gurnee, retiring at age 84. She loved to sing to make people smile, was an excellent dancer (especially the Jitter Bug ) and roller skater, and played on the Fox Lake Hills/Taylor Furniture volleyball team.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Hansen in 1960 and George Pecenka in 1993; children, Daniel Hansen and Geraldine Carson; grandsons, Paul and Curt Lilly; siblings, Edgar “Buddy” L’Herault and Rosemary Moncatch..
The visitation will be Thursday, August 31, from 3 p.m. until the time of remembrance service at 8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
There will also be visitation Friday, September 1, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m., at Hamsher Lakeside. Burial will follow in Millburn Cemetery, Wadsworth.
