Theodore “Ted” Beskow, Jr., 83, a lifetime resident of Fox Lake, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at his home.
He was born November 15, 1931, in Chicago to the late Theodore and Irene (nee LiGue) Beskow.
Ted retired from the Lake County Division of Transportation. He was a former Fox Lake Village and Grant Township Trustee and Fox Lake Police Sergeant. A longtime member of Fox Lake American Legion Post 703, he served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his children, Mary (John) Zarr, Robert (Rebecca) Beskow, Susan (Gust) Gustafson, Kim (Don) Van Hoogen, Ann (Lenny) Vear, and Ted (Sandy) Beskow III; grandchildren, Kelly (Ryan), Ryan, Lindsay (Ryan), Carly (Rob), Sally (Tim), Gust, Danny, Jamie, Eric, Allison, Valerie, Erin and Jake; great-grandchildren, T.J., Nolan, Charlotte, and A.J.; sister, LaVerne (the late Bill) Thompson; brother-in-law, Bill (Babe) Koch; Ruth (the late Bob) Koch; and many special friends in the Fox Lake community, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife, A.M. “Bunny” Beskow (nee Koch); brother, Erwin Beskow.
The visitation will be Friday, October 23, from 3-8 p.m., with American Legion Honors at 7 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
There will also be visitation Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Fremont Center.
