Wayne A. Schmidt

Wayne A. Schmidt, 72, of Fox Lake, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at JourneyCare, Barrington.

He was born November 15, 1945, in Libertyville, to the late William and Marion (nee Gustafson) Schmidt, and married Nancy J. Cates on June 10, 1967.

Wayne was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the Navy, and was a member of the Fox Lake American Legion Post 703.  He worked at Stack-On in Wauconda for over 20 years.

Survivors include his wife of more than 50 years, Nancy; children, Paula (Michael) Fessl, Wayne (Bridget) Schmidt II, Michael (companion Jen) Schmidt, William (companion Maria) Schmidt, and Susan (Steve) Tunberg; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and by his great, loving and caring nurse, Patty.

A luncheon will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, December 7, at the Fox Lake American Legion Post 703 Hall, 703 N. US Hwy. 12, Fox Lake.  A visitation will follow from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.

There will also be visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 8, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago.
