Arthur "Al" Horton Obituary

Arthur “Al” Horton, 80, a longtime resident of Fox Lake, died Monday, January 14, 2019, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital.  He was born November 19, 1938, in Missouri, to the late Arthur and Dorothea (nee Riley) Horton.

Al was a proud Marine, who served in the Korean Conflict.  He went on to become a proud heavy-equipment operator and member of Local 150 Operators Union, and was the current president of its retiree club.  He was a former racecar driver, first in stock and then in modified, and a well-known Mr. Fix-it.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Judith (nee Lauer); children, Sandy, Tim, Tom, Cookie, Tisa, Tracy, Lori, Steve, Allen, Larry, and Tammy; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Jerry (Sandra) Horton and Patricia Dempski; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Smith; grandson, Trevor; and great-grandson, Jaxon.

A celebration of Al’s life will be announced at a later date.
