Eleanor “Nora” Adams, 96, of McHenry, formerly of Ingleside, died Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Fox Point Manor. She was born October 7, 1921, in Spring Grove, to the late John and Anna (nee Schaefer).
An extremely compassionate and caring person, Nora was very active at St. Bede Catholic Church and its women’s group, a longtime Meals-on-Wheels volunteer, and drove cancer patients to appointments for many years. She was an avid bowler and golfer, who loved the Chicago Cubs (and was glad to have lived to see the Cubbies win the World Series). She worked as an executive assistant at Abbott Laboratories and went on to work for 35 years as an accountant at Elmer P. Adams CPA, Fox Lake.
Nora is survived by many nieces and nephews including Kelly (Steve) Goudreau of Round Lake, Jeffrey Adams of Tennessee, Curtis Adams of Ingleside, Stacy Adams of Ingleside, and Noel (Peter) Parmantie of Georgia; sisters-in-law, June Adams of Inverness, FL and Patricia Adams of Round Lake; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her siblings, Raymond, Harold (Geri), Charlie (Ila), Elmer, and Alvina Adams.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd. (at the intersection with Rt. 59), Ingleside, IL 60041. Burial will follow in St. Bede Cemetery.
