A permanent resident of Johnsburg Il. since 1989, and a former longtime resident of Des Plaines died Monday July 27, 2009 in Woodstock, Il.
She was born on July 8, 1920 in Chicago to Max and Walburga (nee Forster) Wagner and had studied as a classical pianist under Marion Meyer in River Forest, Il. Irma played with the Maine Twp. High School's Orchestra, gave piano recitals and also taught piano. She worked as a secretary for Kroh Wagner Co, the family business in Chicago, and was united in marriage to Frederick "Fred" or" Jr." H. Smith on June 30, 1951 in Park Ridge Il. She then devoted her life to taking care of her family at home. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Plaines, Il., a longtime member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Mc Henry, and was active with WELCA, bible study and the Sewing Circle.
She will be greatly missed by: Her Son: Kurt F. (Julie) Smith of Johnsburg, Il.
Grandchildren: Kurt D. (Fiance Robin Grom) of Mc Henry
Carolyn M. (Daniel) Bell of Milwaukee, Wi. And Daniel J. Smith of Johnsburg
Great Grandchildren: Jesse, Corey Andrew and Sean Bell, all of Milwaukee.
Sister-in-law: Marge Wagner of Chicago, Il.
Other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ralph Wagner and by her Husband Frederick on Nov. 29, 2004.

On Friday everyone is invited to go directly to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church 404 N. Green Street Mc Henry, Il. 60050 at 9:30 a.m. for the 10:00 a.m. Church Funeral Services.
Burial will follow at the Windridge Cemetery in Cary, Il.
Memorials for the Church will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
