James A. “Jim” Kaplan, 81, of Ingleside, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 in McHenry. He was born Sept. 20, 1937, in Chicago to the late John and Edna (Kunowski) Kaplan.
Jim was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Bears and Cubs, and he loved snowmobiling. His wealth of selflessness, honesty and friendly smile will be greatly missed by all of his family, as well as his friends. His famous quote was, “I’ll be honest with you.”
Jim is survived by his children, Colleen Michaelson, Gordon (Isana) Michaelson, Seamus (Lynn) Kaplan, and Sean Kaplan; grandchildren, Kathleen, Maureen, Liam, Kirsten, Shane, Cara, Courtney, Chase, Alexandra, Ian, and Kierstian; great grandson, Noah; brother, John (Joanie) Kaplan; sister-in-law, Geraldine Motter; and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Kathleen Kaplan, and brothers, Donald Kaplan and Walter Motter.
A memorial mass to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 10 AM at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside.
