Leonard “Len” Kratz, 83, of McHenry, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, at home. He was born June 9, 1934, in Marion, South Dakota, to the late Dr. Leonard and Viola (nee Johnston) Kratz.
Len was a Fox Lake Police Officer, Fireman, and Paramedic, security guard at Northern Illinois Medical Center and Rank Video, associate at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, and most recently worked as a greeter at Walmart in Johnsburg. Len was an avid fisherman, who loved Scouting and was a leader of “The Eagle Makers” Troop #179 in Ingleside.
Survivors include his sons, Leonard (Danielle) Kratz of McHenry, Frank Kratz of Pell Lake, Wisconsin, and Kurt (Kristine) Kratz of Ingleside; daughter, Luana (Brian) Wolski of McHenry; grandchildren, Ally, Bradley, and Colin Kratz, Emilie and Jake Kratz, Kurt Jr. and Keith Kratz, Chelsee Wilson, and Isaiah and Frank Wolski; and sister-in-law, Karen Turnbull.
Len was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Luana (nee Lumber) Kratz in 2017; his parents; and brothers, Dean and Dennis Kratz.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, June 10, at 11a.m., at the Fox Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 114 Washington St., Ingleside.
