Norma J. Riggs

Norma June (nee Parsons) Riggs, 89, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2012 at Concordia Village Care Center, in Springfield, IL.

Norma was born Flag Day, June 14, 1923 in Chicago, IL to Fred and Anna Parsons. She married Glenn E. Riggs on October 2, 1943, & after World War II, they built a house in Fox Lake and had one son, William Glenn Riggs, the joy of their lives. Norma's parents lived in the upstairs apartment where they could love and support their family until their deaths. Glenn and Norma were partners in life, and business, working together in the fuel oil business and then Holiday Park. They had been married 53 years when Glenn peacefully passed away in December, 1996. In 2009, Bill and Mary encouraged Norma to join them in moving to the Springfield area where they could be all together with Zachary and his young family.

Norma moved to Concordia Village and enjoyed three happy years, making new friends and loving her family. Over the past year, she moved from Independent Living to Assisted Living and finally to the Care Center where she spent her final days, content and grateful for a good long life, a life filled with her delightful laughter. Norma is survived by her only son, William (Mary) Riggs, a grandson, Zachary (Stacia) Spraetz and three adorable great grandchildren, Tucker, Ryder and Nataley, all of Rochester, IL.

Visitation will be on Thurs., Sept. 27 from 9 until the 11 am funeral service at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 North Pistakee Lake Road, Fox Lake, IL with interment at North Shore Gardens of Memories, North Chicago.
