Patrick “Paddy” Watson, 75, a longtime resident of McHenry, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington. He was born May 31, 1943, in Chicago, to the late Dennis and Catherine (nee Malone) Watson. He married the late Sharon Lee Watson (nee Kretsch) May 20, 1967.
Paddy, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting, was a lifelong member of the NRA and longtime member of Ducks Unlimited and Fourth Lake Hunt Club. Early in his career, he was a pipefitter who was flown to construction projects in remote areas of Alaska and worked at Ball Brothers in Mundelein. He went on to become an entrepreneur owning The Grizzly Saloon in Bristol, WI and Roof and Bricks Bar and Grill in Trevor, WI. Paddy especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Christine (John) Gordon and Michael Watson; step-grandson, Jonathan Donovan; sister, Maggie (Bill) Margeson; niece, Mary Margeson; brother-in-law, Curt J. Kretsch; and many loving friends.
Paddy was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, on September 1, 2014; and by his parents.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 6, from 3-7 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg. All are invited to go directly to the Church. Interment to follow in the Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Paddy’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
