Robert John Johnson, 70, a past resident of Fox Lake, Illinois and Lakeland and Port Orange, Florida, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the Captain James Lovell Medical Center, North Chicago.
He was born November 27, 1947, in Waukegan, to the late Lorraine and Rosemary (nee Piquette) Johnson.
Bob proudly served in the Army 4th Infantry Division during Vietnam and earned a Bronze Star. He went on to work in maintenance and construction. Bob was an avid Chicago Bears fan; pocket-watch, jewelry, and coin collector; fisherman; and enjoyed feeding and watching birds and gardening. Most of all, he was a caring and loving father, grandpa, and brother.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Nathaniel Robert Johnson on March 22, 2018.
Survivors include his children, Joshua Johnson, Robert Cappitelli-Johnson, Erin (Ian) Swillum, and Heather Castrogiovanni; siblings, Mary (Ron) Glaves, Larry (Brenda) Johnson, Martie (Rich) Bowman, Christina Zanola, Joanne (Ray) Keel, Rose Katherine Johnson, Wayne (Angela) Johnson, and Joe Johnson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, September 28, from 4 p.m. until the time of Army funeral honors at 8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Burial will be private.
