Andrew "Andy" D. Rooney, Sr.

Andrew “Andy” Rooney, Sr., 71, a longtime resident of Johnsburg, peacefully passed away at home Friday, October 27, 2023.  He was born December 30, 1951, in Chicago.  Andy married Dawn Lameka on May 8, 1993.

Andy was the life-of-the-party, he had a talent for making people laugh, his sense of humor will be missed. He loved nothing more than spending time with his entire family and he made sure they all knew he was always there for them. Andy enjoyed playing the acoustic guitar, fast cars, and the Chicago Bears. In 2019, he retired from D&W Fine Pack in Lake Zurich.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years, “Miss Dawn”; children, Andrew (Teresa) Rooney Jr., Jason Rooney, Ashley (Devon) Gehrke, and Jennifer (Ryan Johnson) Rooney; grandchildren, Brianna, David, Lisa, and Daniel Rooney, Devin, Jaelyn, and Miya Rooney, and Dawson Gehrke; many great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Linda), Paul (Audrey), and John Rooney; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Jean H. (nee Knudsen) Rooney; and siblings, Peggy Loffredo and Brian Rooney.

Memorial visitation Saturday, November 25, from 1 p.m. until the time of memorial service and military honors at 4 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
