Arlene Jakstas (nee Ansani), 83, of Richmond, formerly a longtime resident of Fox Lake, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022, at home. She was born February 22, 1939, in LaGrange, to the late Robert and Grace (nee Wilson) Ansani.
A graduate of Riverside-Brookfield High School who went on to receive her court-reporting degree from McCormick Court Reporting School, Arlene was the longtime office manager and vice president at the family business, Mineola Marine.
Arlene had a lifelong love for animals and, in her younger days, used to show five-gaited horses. She enjoyed all holidays and any occasion that brought her family and friends together.
Survivors include her husband Pete Jakstas, whom she married November 16, 1963; and children, Pete Jakstas, Laura (Matt) Soucy, and Erica Jakstas.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen “K” Jakstas on October 2, 2011; and brother, Robert (Kay) Ansani.
Visitation Tuesday, March 29, from 3-8 p.m., and Wednesday, March 30, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Interment will be private.
