Betty Jean Westin (nee Pinkham), 75, a lifelong resident of the Fox Lake/Ingleside area, peacefully passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at her daughter’s home in McHenry. She was born July 4, 1947, to the late Edward and Mae (nee Hemminger) Pinkham.
Betty grew up in the Fox Lake/Ingleside areas graduating in 1964 from Grant Community High School, where she had been homecoming queen. She went on to attend Drake University and held many positions throughout her life. Betty’s most fulfilling and enjoyable position, and where she was most alive and did the most good, was as a crisis worker for the Crisis Line of Fox Valley.
Betty enjoyed shopping—especially for shoes and jewelry, and had a longtime love for Elvis Presley and impersonator, Rick Saucedo. Above all, she enjoyed being a loving wife, mom, gramma, and woman of strong Christian faith.
She was the precious angel of husband, Patrick “Pat”; left a legacy of love for her children, Krista (James Splingaire) McCormick, Erik (Jennifer) Carlson, Mikomi Takaki, Nita (Mark) Lyngen, Travis (Lissa) Brown, Nathan (Anne) Westin (and their children Bella, Carl, and Liam), and Nina (Andreas Hahn) Westin; was loving gramma to Jack (Kayla Noble) Harris, Heather (Tyler) Hansen, Erika (Johnathan) Lubbers (and their children Indiana and Isabelle), Wade (Kurstin) Carlson (and their children Karter and Charlotte), and Kaitlyn Mae Carlson; loving Auntie Beast to Brian, Mary Beth, Kara, and Andrew; loving sister to Ed “Butch” Pinkham, Dee Dee Burge, Barbara Pinkham, and William “Sam” Pinkham; and was a mother to many, many beloved extended and adopted family of choice.
Betty was preceded in death by parents, Mae and Earl Capps and Edward Pinkham; and siblings, Laurie Hamm and Christine Kelly.
