Carnell Stone, 84, of Ingleside, died Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at home. He was born February 11, 1936, in Madison, TN.
Carnell was honorably discharged from the Armed forces of the United States in 1955. Once back from service, Carnell and Rosemary married and moved from Madison, Tennessee to Chicago, Illinois where they had five kids over the course of 20 years. He was a farmer when he was young, and a truck driver until he re-retired. He loved his family, he loved his friends, but most of all he loved his cookouts!! Once known as “The Cook” at all events, he always knew how to get the party started and keep it going.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rosemary (nee Sohn); children, Dale Stone, Patricia (the late Alfonso) Vasquez, Donnie (Linda Martin) Stone, Linda (David) Frederick, and Dave Stone; grandchildren, Tanya Stone, Barbara Jean Stone, Christina and Gina Rowlett, Alfey (Jessica Abbott) and Jessie (Brianna) Vasquez, Donny Jr., April, Jennifer, and Tiffany Stone, Jonathan Corrigan, and Jameson, Gavin, Tyler, Joselyn, and Cody Stone; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Gladys Grooms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, McKinnley and Laura Stone; and siblings, Jerry, Aaron, and Joe.
Visitation Saturday, February 22, from 12 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 4 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
