Claude S. Cope-Morris, 92 years of age, passed away July 8, 2021, at home in Fox Lake of natural causes. He was born July 3, 1929, in Pittsburgh, CA.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen; two daughters, Claudia (Randy) Kelch and Julie (Ric) Regnier; five grandsons, Patrick Kelch, Jonathan (Krystal) Kelch, Bryan (Amy) Regnier, Patrick Regnier, and Ken (Shelby Defilippo) Regnier; seven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; brother, James Cope-Morris; and longtime caregiver and friend, Sam Babatunda.
He is preceded in death by his son, Dr. Michael Morris.
Mr. Morris is a descendent of Oliver Cope, an early settler of the State of Pennsylvania. Mr. Cope immigrated to the colonies with William Penn in 1686.
Mr. Morris is a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force, Headquarters Squadron 8th Air Force during the Korean War. Members of the Morris family have served in the Military in every U.S. Military conflict since 1680.
Claude was an avid reader, especially Civil War materials, and a collector of rare succulent and sempervivum plants. He loved spending time looking through plant catalogs to decide what he would order next!
Memorial visitation Thursday, July 15, from 1 p.m. until the time of service and military honors at 3:30 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. A reception will follow. Mr. Morris’ urn will be placed at Highland Memorial Park, Libertyville, at a future date.
