Clifton Edward Stewart, of Round Lake, peacefully passed away January 9, 2026, at home with his family. He was born July 4, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Robert “John L” and Mary Anne “Mickey” (nee Lehmann) Stewart.
Clif grew up in Cicero, Illinois, attended Morton East High School, served in the Army during Vietnam, and was honorably discharged August 9, 1976. He went on to have a successful career as a power-plant engineer and retired from Energy Systems Group (ESG) at Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois.
He was a lifelong guitarist and musician, who enjoyed traveling, great food, and parties with friends. Clif was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, who enjoyed riding his Harley and attending motorcycle races and events every year in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Most of all, he was a wonderful brother and uncle who loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his siblings, Rodney (Marlene) Stewart, Cynthia (Jim) Trachsler, and step-sister, Melissa (Bill) McCarthy; nephews and nieces, Rodney Stewart Jr., Annmarie Stewart, Cheyenne (David) Germaine, Nancy (Adam) Rossie, Nathan Basham, Jodie Trachsler, Jamie Trachsler, and Grace McCarthy; great nephews and nieces, Michael Stewart, Theodore Sexton, Adam (Cassie) Rossie, Alyssa Rossie, and Arriana Rossie; great-great nephews and niece, Asher, Axton, and Elias Rossie; uncle, Jerry (Debbie) Stewart and aunt, Dorothy Rizo; former wife and fond friend, Linda Evola and her family; lifelong best friend and “brother”, Steve Brizick and his family; fond friends, Katie Osmon and Jeanine Zeihen; many cousins and extended family members; and his beloved cats, Jax and Lily.
In addition to his parents, Clif was preceded in death by brother, Robert Eric Stewart; nephew, Nicholas Basham; stepmother, Judith Stewart; grandparents, Clifton and Lola Stewart and Edward and Anne Lehmann; and several beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Clif’s life will be announced for a future date.
