Daniel W. Borke, Sr.

Daniel W. Borke Sr. 89, a long-time resident of Fox Lake, passed away peacefully Monday, February 6,
2023, surrounded by family.  He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on February 27, 1933.

He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 to 1956.  He received the Good Conduct Medal, the National
Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. 

He married Darleen (Chuk) Holland on August 5, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church and they celebrated
their 56th Wedding anniversary this past year.

Dan was employed at Great Lakes Naval Base for 30 years, originally as a plumber, and later as a
carpenter and landscaper. He enjoyed building bird houses, window boxes and planters of all kinds in his woodshop, and he
delighted in his beautiful gardens. He also enjoyed bowling, garage sales, cards and traveling, especially
to New Jersey where his siblings reside.  He was also a volunteer on the Fox Lake Fire Department for
many years.

Survivors include his loving wife Darleen, his children, Daniel W. Borke, Jr. and Denise (Borke) Farmer,
stepchildren, Michael (Deb) Holland, Sherlynn (Holland) Costa, Kevin Holland, his brother Joseph Borke
and sister-in-law Joan along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Gertrude Borke, his brother Bill, his sister Mary
Jane and his cherished daughters Debra and Patricia Borke.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran
Church, 25519 W. Hwy. 134 in Ingleside, IL.
