Obituary

David H. Ferrigan, Sr., 83, a lifelong resident of Ingleside, peacefully passed away at home Saturday, April 8, 2023.  He was born August 19, 1939, in Chicago, to the late Howard and Esther (nee Neuroth) Ferrigan.

Dave lived his entire life in the Ingleside/Fox Lake area. He attended Gavin School and was a 1958 graduate of Grant Community High School. A commercial and industrial plumber by trade, he was the owner of D.H. Ferrigan Plumbing in Fox Lake. Dave served the community as a former Grant Township trustee and Little League coach.

Through Dave’s love of golf, he formed lifelong friendships with his favorite foursome, otherwise known as the “A**holes.” Which lead to the infamous annual golf outing, The A**hole Open. Dave enjoyed cheering on collegiate sports teams particularly those of his children and grandchildren. His favorite time of the year was the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, often running a very popular bracket pool. He had a special gift of making everyone feel unique and special often with playful teasing and nicknames. To know him was to love him. Above all, he loved to spend time and vacation with his entire family and was blessed to have all of them with him when he passed away.

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Kathleen “Kathy” (nee Farrell); children, Julie (Tom) Vickers of Libertyville; David (Leslie) Ferrigan Jr. of Hawthorn Woods, Jane (Robert) Wilson of Spring Grove, and Megan (Vince) Rizzo of Lake Villa; 14 grandchildren, Dan, Brian, Patrick, and Maggie Vickers, Anna, Jake, and Keira Ferrigan, Quinn, Chase, and Kyler Wilson, and Finley, Maura, Brinn, and Nolan Rizzo; siblings, Rosemary (Bruce) Tobin, Mike (Kathleen) Ferrigan, Robert (Dee) Ferrigan, Kathryn  Haers, and Steve (Debbie) Ferrigan; sister-in-law, Joan Ferrigan; many special and loved nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Rosemary Farrell; brother-in-law, Tom Farrell; and by many, many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by siblings, Paul Ferrigan, Patricia (Jim) Fruit, Jerry (Sheila) Ferrigan, Gordy (Jan) Ferrigan; and Dan Ferrigan.
