Delores "Dee" E. (nee Eckhart) Kantenwein

The Lord took her home peacefully the morning of Dec 29, 2020. Delores was born in Chicago, IL to Edward and Mildred Eckhart.

The family moved to Oak Park, IL where Delores attended grade school and high school. During this time she was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Soon after high school she married Roy Kantenwein (1919 - 2017) on December 26, 1942. Delores & Roy lived in California during much of WWll while Roy served in the Army Airforce.

After the war they settled in Oak Park, IL for a short time, then moved to Fox Lake, IL in 1952. Delores raised her family in Fox Lake and worked part time at Creighton’s, the Globe, and Sears. Her family always came first and were fortunate to have such a kind and generous Mother. She was a mentor and friend to her Grandchildren. Delores loved family and friends, loved to tell stories of generations past, and learning about the lives and history of everyone she met. 

Delores is survived by three sons: Craig (Mary); Reid (Kim); Bruce (Chris). One brother and best friend : Edward Eckhart (Carolyn). Four Grandkids: Scott Kantenwein (Joan); Kelly Kantenwein Cuzman (Tom); Jamie Kantenwein Abeyta; Casey Kantenwein (Nadia). Ten Great Grandchildren: Kyle Kantenwein; Krystin Kantenwein Boyd (Mitchell); Noah and Chloe Cuzman; Alexis, Jake, Tony, Brinley Abeyta; Cole and Rilynn Kantenwein; One Great Great Granddaughter: Korra Kantenwein. 

Delores was preceded in death by her husband Roy, in 2017. 

The celebration of Delores’s life will be private.
