Gene “Butch” Zachar, 77, of McHenry, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at home.  He was born March 11, 1947, in Chicago, to the late Stanley and Barbara “Tillie” (nee Eichermueller) Zachar.

Butch enjoyed boating, fishing, and snowmobiling.  He retired from AT&T after working there for over 30 years.

Survivors include his wife of almost 35 years, Nancy; children, Gene (Jennifer) Zachar Jr. and Shelly (Cory) Thompson; stepson, Wayne (Joy) Lyng; brother, Bill Zachar; step niece and nephew, Jacqueline and Kyle Kus; and my many neighbors and friends.

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by brother, James Zachar.

Services will be private.
