George E. Hidalgo, Sr., 98, of Round Lake Beach, peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at home. He was born May 5, 1924, in Quito, Ecuador, to the late Tobias and Cristina (nee Pazmiño) Hidalgo.
George graduate from college in Ecuador with a Bachelor’s degree in education and taught middle school students. He went on to work as a shoe-stitching designer at Florsheim Shoes and retired from Paslode/Duo-Fast in Franklin Park, after working there for 37 years as a machine operator.
He enjoyed playing soccer in his youth, watching Westerns, and was an avid Bingo player and fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs. George loved spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren, gadgets, and was an expert in leather and auto repairs.
Survivors include his children, Monica Hidalgo and George E. Hidalgo Jr.; grandchildren, Anthony E. (Nicole) Richko Jr., Joseph Michael (fiancée Mayra Reyes) Richko, Branden (fiancée Lexi Pitts) Hidalgo, Javier Raul Paredes, Mariano F. Paredes, Celina Perez, George A. Hidalgo, Stephanie Hidalgo, and Christina Hidalgo; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Gabriella, Vincent, and Franco Richko, and Zeus and Zyrus Richko; and step-children, Gayle L. Kozlowski and Grant L. Ogburn.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Helen (nee Smith) Hidalgo; great-grandson, Anthony Richko III; step-daughter, Jewell G. Seastrom; and siblings, Antonio, Rafael, Jaime, Beatriz, and Salma Hidalgo.
