Haritini “Joy” Tadavich (nee Giortamelis), 70, unexpectedly passed away Monday, February 22, 2021, at her home. She was born September 6, 1950, in Greece, to the late Dimitris and Andriana Giortamelis.
Joy and her late husband, Carl, enjoyed traveling, motorcycling, and boating. She was active in her Woodhills Bay community, where she served on the board of directors. Above all, she loved to spend time with her family.
Survivors include her family: sister, Kiki (Niko) Kyritsopoulos—and their children, Dimitri (Katerina) and Taki (Efi) Kyritsopoulos; cousins, Chris (Andriana) Athanasopoulos—and their children, Stacie Athanasopoulos, Angela (Mike) Flood, and George Athanasopoulos, and Roula (Chris) Manis—and their children, Demitra (George) Zarafonitis and Nicholas (Dana) Georgiopoulos; brother-in-law, Anthony L. (Diane) Tadavich—and their children, Gavin Tadavich and Darcy (Matt) Rizzo; nieces and nephew, Kathy (the late Tim) Palm—and her children, Matthew and Gabby Palm, Susan (Don) Champley, John Flam, and Toinette (Keith) Brown; special friend, Joyce (the late Bill) Vanderhei; and many extended family members and great friends.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on January 29, 2015; her parents; and sister-in-law, Toinette Tadavich.
Visitation Monday, March 1, from 9-10 a.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Bede Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside. Entombment to follow at 12:45 p.m., at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Belmont and Cumberland Avenues (enter off of Belmont), River Grove—please meet inside cemetery gate.
Face masks and physical distancing will be required at the funeral home, church, and cemetery.
