James E. Glidden, 78, of Fox Lake, formerly a 39-year resident of Lindenhurst, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Randall Residence of McHenry. He was born to the late Kenneth and Phyllis (nee Kessler) on May 25, 1943, in Franklin Park.
Jim grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago and was a 1961 graduate of Prospect High School in Mount Prospect. He went on to obtain his degree in 1968 from Roosevelt University and, after working briefly in Brookfield, became an engineer for Abbott Laboratories, from which he retired after working there for 29 years.
Jim enjoyed camping with his family and friends, golfing, and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and White Sox.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carol (nee Richards); children, Joel (Catherine) Glidden, Jonathan Glidden, and Julie (Sean) Smith; and grandchildren, Amelia Glidden, Austin Glidden, and Rylan and Maya Bradley.
Jim’s memorial visitation will be Thursday, February 3, from 5 p.m. until the celebration of life service at 7:30 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
