Janice A. (nee Costello) Kohl

Janice A. Kohl (nee Costello), 83, of McHenry, formerly of San Diego, CA, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at JourneyCare, Barrington.  She was born July 29, 1940, in Chicago, to the late Arthur and Alice (nee Smith) Costello.

Prior to returning to McHenry, Janice had a very successful career as a real-estate agent in San Diego.  She was a loving mom who was very active in her children’s lives.  Janice enjoyed reading books and the Reader’s Digest, golfing, bowling, tennis, swimming, waterskiing, and when the weather was “sunny and 80.”  An outdoors person, she also enjoyed being on the water and camping.

Survivors include her children, Diane Kohl, Kenneth Kohl, Leonard “Lenny” (Jamye) Kohl, and Sherri Kerby; grandchildren, Nicholas, Branden, Travis, Joshua, Jeffery, Kassie, Cody (Amanda), Tyler (Jordyn), Cortney (Chris), Devon, Shannon (Robert), Jesse (Brook), Emma, Justen, Jennifer, Ariel and Kory; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jillian, Wyatt, Carter, Hannah, Charlet, Makia, Aretha, Lexxas, Leighayla, Ben, Leah, Hannah, Oliver, Addison, Bryant, Damien, Samantha, Zoey, Addy Ember, Ellie, and Jacob; and great-great grandson, Zaiden; siblings, Chip, Bill, Bob, and Gay; and former husband, Kenneth Kohl.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by siblings, Gary, Bunny, and Carol.

Memorial visitation Saturday, December 9, from 1 p.m. until the memorial service at 3 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
