Jayne I. Homan (nee Sayles), 100, of McHenry, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital. She was born August 16, 1918, in Sioux Falls, SD, to the late Ernest and Marian (nee Cornue) Sayles.
A native of Fox Lake, she was the granddaughter of E.O. Sayles, pioneer of the Fox Lake area. With her husband, Elmer, they co-owned Homan’s Sporting Goods in Fox Lake for 38 years, which was located on what was her grandfather’s farm.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Jacquelyn) Homan and Cheryl (Hubert) McArtor; grandchildren, Lori (Jon Fernsler) Homan, Julie (Nate) VanDuine, Tracie (Skip) Mandel, Michael McArtor, and Janie (Keith) Magnus; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and brother, William (Virginia) Sayles.
In addition to her parents, Jayne was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; and five brothers.
Her visitation will be Saturday, July 6, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., at Ringwood United Methodist Church, 5307 Barnard Mill Rd., Ringwood, IL 60072. Burial will follow in Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.
