Jean Pemble Kratunis (nee Schultz), 85, of Fox Lake passed away peacefully at home, and surrounded by family, Thursday, November 5, 2020. She was born April 11, 1935, in Chicago, to the late Arthur and Clara (nee Langbein) Schultz. She retired after working at Intermatic for 31 years.
Affectionately known as “Ma Pemble, Beanie, and GG,” Jean enjoyed attending services at Fox Lake Community Church, was in the Kitchen Band, a member of the Red Hatters, loved visiting casinos, going to the Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson with her family, baking, sewing, singing, listening to country music, dancing, game nights at Lakeland Apartments, word searches, and playing video games. She loved all children and was a welcoming “mom” to many.
Survivors include her children, Grant (Pamela) Pemble of Round Lake Beach, Howard Pemble Jr. of Fox Lake, Pat (the late Leon) Thompson of Fox Lake, Alan Kratunis of Lake Villa, and Jim Kratunis of Tennessee; grandchildren, Angela (Michael) Hopper, Keeley (Jeff) Weidner, Tabetha (Ron) Highley, Paul (Carissa Jasso) Maze, Jr., Melissa Thompson, Kevin Foster Jr., Nicole (Tim) Nix, Jennifer (David) Ocelotl, Brian (Melissa) Pemble, Tammy (Scott) Meyer, and Sandy (Russ) Boelkow; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brothers, George and Russell (Lucky) Schultz; brother-in-law, Dean Pemble of Lake Geneva; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by husband, Alan Kratunis; former husband, Howard Pemble, Sr.; children, Elmer, Richard, and Russell (the late Karen) Pemble, Kevin (Cindy McDonough) Foster Sr., Irene (the late Bill) Warner, and Jerry Kratunis; grandsons, David, Ryan, and Elmer Dean Pemble; great granddaughter, Ashley Pemble; and siblings, Robert (the late Ethel) Schultz, Art (the late Valerie) Schultz, and Dorothy Godwin.
A procession to Grant Cemetery, on Molidor Rd., Ingleside will begin at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 14. The graveside service will follow at 12 noon.
