Jeffrey Richard Janos, 65, of Volo, IL, formerly of South Lyon, MI and Grayslake, IL, peacefully passed away at home Thursday, June 6, 2024. He was born August 10, 1958, in Berwyn, IL, to the late Richard and Shirley (nee Valenta) Janos.

Jeff grew up in Berwyn and Des Plaines, graduating from Maine North High School in 1976. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science from Southern Illinois University in 1980 and a Master’s of Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, in 1982. He had a successful career as a research chemist in the coatings, paint, and polymer industries.

In his free time, Jeff enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, strolling through the farmers markets and trying new foods. But he was happiest spending time with his beloved family and pets—especially the dachshunds. His main joy was surprising his wife and spoiling his kids. Jeff volunteered and was involved with Boy Scouts and his kids various activities throughout the years.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Melissa (nee Kostial); children, Greg (Jenica) Janos, Sara Janos, and Andrew Janos; sister, Corrine Janos; Dachshunds, Isabella and Anastasia; grand-Dachshund, Fiammetta.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, June 29th from 11AM to 2PM, with a time for remembrances at 2PM, at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
