John Miller, 58, of Lake Villa, IL peacefully passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023, in Libertyville, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 12, 1964, in Watseka, IL, to George and Judith Miller. He married Linda Burnside October 14, 1989, in Rensselaer, IN.
John grew up on the family farm in Rensselaer, where he learned to take things apart and put them back together. He had a lifelong love of the farm and enjoyed spending time there with his family. He also enjoyed his Honda Goldwing motorcycle and automobiles, including his plow truck and former Camaro.
John had a long career in technology. First at Motorola for 26 years, where he helped create the Razr cellphone and other emerging cellphone technologies, and then for Shure, where he loved the culture which helped create technology used by his favorite musicians to create music. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Bede Church and a Fourth-Degree Knight of Columbus at St. Bede Pius X Council 3788.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Miller; daughter, Kristina (Zach) Hart; parents, George and Judith (nee Johnson) Miller; siblings, Kim (Jim) Pucka and Darren Miller; brother-in-law, John Burnside; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by in-laws, Delvin and Janice Burnside.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 15, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Bede Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside, IL. A celebration of John's life and a time to share remembrances will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in John’s name to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, of which John was a longtime supporter and an 18-year “shavee.”
