John H. Moulis, 83, of Johnsburg, IL and Cape Coral, FL, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, in Florida. He was born February 20, 1939, to the late Joseph and Anna Moulis.
John worked in the marina business since 1952, beginning with his parents at Chain O’Lakes Marina before establishing Fox Lake Harbor—both in Fox Lake. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. With his Rumrunner, he won the 1959 World Record for flat-bottom speed boats at 97.25 mph, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Survivors include his children, Warren (Norine) Moulis and Vicki (Bob) McKay; grandchildren, Neil Moulis, Davin (Tony) Moulis-Nissen, Haily (Tim) Donley, and Bobby (Jenna), Brian (Jill), and McKenzie McKay; great-grandchildren, Luke and Logan Nissen and Sam Donley; brother, Jim (Sue) Moulis; sister-in-law, Donna Moulis; and many good friends.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; son, JV Moulis; and brother, Joe Moulis.
A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, October 2, from 11 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 1 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
