John Philip Schaefer passed away February 16, 2024 at his home in Lake Villa.  He was born in Chicago on February 21, 1942 to Emil and Marie (nee O'Connor) Schaefer.  John joined the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He married Lynn Roberts on November 10, 1973.  They were members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Long Lake and both enjoyed traveling to Jamaica.   He later retired from Abbott Laboratory after 32 years as a Microbiology Technician in HPD.  John was the loving husband of Lynn (nee Roberts) for 50 years, he was a dear father of Joe (Elena) and Josie, cherished grandfather of Samara, Donovan and Aliya.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Marie Schaefer, stepmother Bernice Schaefer and his brother Daniel Schaefer.
