Karen Joyce Mullenhoff (nee Travaglio), 60, of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Lindenhurst, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was born July 19, 1964, in Chicago, to Carol Travaglio (nee Hejnicki) and the late Michael Travaglio.
Karen grew up in Niles, Illinois, graduating from St. John Brebeuf School; and finishing her education at Maine East High School, class of 82’. Karen went on to work in patient registration at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville and Gurnee, Illinois, retiring just prior to becoming terminally ill.
Karen loved planning vacations, palm trees, the ocean, the pool, barbeques during the day and bonfires at night, hanging out with “the girls”, and living in the moment. Holidays were extremely special and important to Karen. She made sure everyone got along and everyone received a gift. Most of all, she loved being a mom and grandma.
Survivors include her children, Anthony Mullenhoff of Stuart and Danielle Mullenhoff of West Palm Beach; grandson, Jesse Carran Jr.; mother, Carol Travaglio; sister, Kim Travaglio; brother, Dean (Shirley) Travaglio; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and an abundance of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Mullenhoff on July 4, 2020; father, Michael Travaglio; and sister-in-law, Maryann Travaglio.
A memorial visitation will be Saturday, April 19, from 2 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 4 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, Illinois. Interment will be private.
