Lawrence “Larry” Stanley Verjinski, 57, of Spring Grove, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital.
Larry was born April 8, 1964, in Waukegan, to the late Lawrence “Spike” Leon and Thyra Jane (nee Petersen) Verjinski. He married the late Carrie Leigh McElhaney on May 24, 1988.
Larry grew up in Round Lake and graduated from Round Lake High School. He went on to enlist in the Navy and was a veteran of the Gulf War, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom—retiring from the Navy in 2007 as a Senior Chief Boatswain’s Mate. He was an active member of American Legion Post 703, Fox Lake, where he had served as a past Commander and a Tenth District Commander. In retirement he worked as a signal-maintenance man for the Union Pacific Railroad.
He enjoyed his dogs, boating, RVing, cooking, football, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer (Thomas) Jarrett and Stephanie Verjinski; grandchildren, Kelsie and Cailyn Jarrett and Emily and James Larson; fur babies Smokey and Helo; brother, Michael (Theresa) Verjinski; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie, on December 17, 2019; his parents; grandpa, Leo Verjinski; and stepfather, Al Neilson.
Visitation Saturday, April 9, from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 5 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Private interment.
