Lisa Howsam Obituary

Lisa E. Howsam, 52, of Round Lake Beach, unexpectedly passed away at home Monday, January 30, 2023.  She was born September 3, 1970, in Mitchell, South Dakota, to the late Kenneth and Gladys (nee Bedony) Howsam.

 Lisa was a 1988 graduate of Round Lake High School who went on to College of Lake County and Barat College to earn Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Special Needs Education.  She was a teacher at Stanton School in Fox Lake prior to working at Solomon Elementary School in Chicago for the past 19 years.

The most loving, generous, and free-spirited person, Lisa enjoyed gardening and traveling.  Above all, she enjoyed working with kids.  She was active at New Hope Christian Community in Round Lake Beach and especially enjoyed volunteering for their Closet ministry.

Survivors include her brothers, Larry (Patty) Howsam and Ronald Howsam both of Spring Grove; nieces and nephews, Tanya (Dylan) Smith and their children Christian and Caiden of Ormond Beach, Florida, Matthew Howsam of Evanston, Jason Howsam and his son Ryan of Antioch, Katrina (Erik) Hileman and their daughter Harper of Antioch, Sabrina Howsam and her children Jade and Nathan of Spring Grove, Tiffanie Howsam of Spring Grove, Joshua (Tiffany) Howsam and their son Gage of Kentucky and Steven (Suzie) Howsam and their children, Grayson and Ethan of Florida; and the late Jessica’s children, Austin and Arianna Howsam; aunts, Raelene Dammann of Lake Villa, Marijean Macwha of New Port Richey, Florida, and Anita Bedony of Morton Grove; loving best friend, Kenny Krieger of Round Lake Park; further survived by many beloved extended family members and an abundance of friends.

In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by siblings, Greg, Elaine, Bill, and Sandra Howsam; niece, Jessica Howsam; and a great niece and great nephew.

***Please note that there is a change in the location for the services.  Visitation Saturday, February 11, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10:30 a.m., at New Hope Christian Community Church, 1020 W. Rollins Rd, Round Lake Beach, Il.  There is nothing at the funeral home.   Burial will be in Avon Center Cemetery, Grayslake.  A luncheon will follow.
