Margaret Wert Obituary

Margaret J. Wert (Qualls), 58, of Spring Grove, IL passed away at her home, on Thursday, April 13, 2023.

Born in Muskegon Michigan, on December 9, 1964, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Jennifer Buit. Her early life was spent in Muskegon, MI where she attended grade school and cared for her young sisters. Her mother met Roger Qualls and resided in Colorado from about 1972 to 1979. After a short stay in Texas, they found their home in Wichita in 1979. She graduated from South High class of 1983 in Wichita, KS. Shortly after graduating high school, she attained her cosmetology license. She attended College of Lake County in 2001 and graduated with an associate’s degree in applied science for medical imaging. Margaret was proud to be an accredited member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Margaret met her first husband Wade McCart in Wichita, Kansas in 1983. In 1984, she gave birth to their first son, Bo McCart. In 1988, Margaret gave birth to their daughter Kalyn McCart.

In the early 1990’s, Margaret met her second husband Troy Wert. Margaret and Troy were united in marriage June 21, 1991. Following their marriage they settled in Spring Grove, Illinois, where they raised their family. In 1994, Margaret gave birth to their son Jordon Wert and in 1997 she gave birth to her 4th child Abbey Wert.

She spent her life being a devoted mother; coaching the Fox Lake Cardinals cheerleading squad, which Kalyn and Abbey were a part of. Cheering on their brothers Bo and Jordon who played in the communities’ football team. She cherished every second spent with her children. Margaret loved deeply for each one of her children. Margaret especially enjoyed being a grandma. She loved every moment she got to spend with her grandkids. Margaret became a second mother to her grandson Jacob after her daughter Kalyn passed away. She spent every Monday with her grandson Jacob, where they would spend time at Richardson’s Adventure Farm feeding the animals, including her favorite horse Rowdy! Margaret had a special place in her heart for her hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Here she brought her grandson Jacob to Kansas and enjoyed time with family. She enjoyed road trips and she loved to garden. She was prideful in her home and yard. Margaret enjoyed decorating for every holiday as the abundance of decoration boxes could attest to this cherished hobby. She loved animals, but truly had a special place in her heart for horses.

Margaret had many furry animals in her lifetime and even raised a couple litters of puppies. In her quiet time, she loved spending time on her patio with her dog Jax and a cup of coffee. She also loved sitting in her rocking chair with a romance novel. She was a huge lover of iced coffee, listening to Royal Bliss, and had an affinity for country music. She loved to attend live music shows, with an emphasis on Royal Bliss and dreamt of seeing George Strait in concert. She loved being in the sun, boat rides, and listening to waves along the shores. In her 50s, she discovered the ocean for the first time. One of her favorite sights was the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. She loved the story in The Sound of Music and was fascinated by The Wizard of Oz.  Margaret was an active creative in helping coordinate a miniature horse drill team, talent shows, events for the parent teacher association, and the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce. Margaret loved flowers. Her favorites were yellow roses and stargazer lilies. Margaret enjoyed and loved working with Richardson’s Adventure Farm.

Margaret was an incredible friend as she could give the best advice and seemed to find the right words of wisdom in time. She enjoyed having a good time with her friends. Margaret was a daughter, mother, grandma, sister, and best friend. She will be greatly missed.
