Michael Anton Lutz, Sr., 75, a longtime resident of Fox Lake Hills, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 11, 2022, surrounded by family.
Early in life, Michael was a cab driver. As a cabbie, he met his wife, Patricia Naughton. They were married three months later on June 12, 1972, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer.
He was very proud of being a truck driver, driving over-the-road and later becoming a local driver. Michael took great pride in being able to draw family and friends detailed maps of anywhere they were going throughout the United States. He was Google maps before the internet.
Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather (“Pappa”), and great-grandfather who enjoyed family, friends, and always adored his animals. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan, and loved to hang out at the local tavern with his buddies. Later in life, he enjoyed watching cooking shows, landscaping his yard, and reading the paper—while watching the birds out the window. Michael was a simple man and we loved that about him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia; his loving children, Michael Lutz Jr., Anton Lutz Sr., Lisa (John) Bettis, and Kelly (Jon) Wilson; grandchildren, Erick (Amanda) Morrow, Michael Valenziano, Steven Valenziano, Anton Lutz Jr., Morgan Cochara, Michael Lutz, John Bettis, Alexandra Lutz, Gabriele Bettis, Michael Lutz, and Logan McCormack; great-grandchildren, Jayden Lutz, Jeremiah Lutz, Aleah Valenziano, Izabelle Valenziano, Nixon Morrow, Levi Bettis, Grayson Lutz, and Wyatt Valenziano; sister, Kathy Alex; and many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Anton Lutz and Rosemary Easterly; brothers-in-law, Frank Alex and Robert Naughton; and niece, Karen Scudieri.

Pistakee Lake Rd., and processing to East Fox Lake Cemetery, Old Monaville Rd., Lake Villa, for a 2 p.m. service at the cemetery. A celebration of Michael’s life will follow from 3-7 p.m., in the private party room at Moretti’s, 801 N. River Rd., McHenry.
