Miriam Betancourt (nee Govea), 78, of Fox Lake, passed away November 21, 2020. She was born January 29, 1942, in Holguin, Cuba.
She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Betancourt; devoted mother of Alexander and John (Karen) Betancourt; and loving grandmother to Gabrielle, AJ, and Kyle Betancourt.
In addition to her husband, Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Estella (nee Martinez) Govea; and brother, Roger Govea.
She was loved by her students and the community she served as a Chicago school teacher. Miriam live a virtuous, principled life, and always put the needs of others before her own--never uttering a word of complaint. She will be missed tremendously by all whom came to know her.
Visitation Wednesday, December 2, from 4-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
Funeral Mass, 9 a.m., Thursday, December 3, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2302 W. Church St., Johnsburg. Burial to follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery Johnsburg.
