Norma Sue Crock (nee Thompson), 80, a longtime resident of Spring Grove, passed away at home Monday, May 3, 2021, surrounded by family. She was born July 25, 1940, in Chicago, to the late Arthur and Evelyn (nee Nygaard) Thompson.
Norma was a graduate of Lotus Grade and Grant Community High Schools. She went on to graduate from American Norwegian Hospital of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Norma worked for many years at McHenry/NIMC Hospital and, in retirement, worked as the pastor’s secretary at Lutheran Church of All Saints, Fox Lake.
Norma was skilled at handiwork, crafting, and card making, and enjoyed writing stories. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Mike Crock of Spring Grove, Pat (Teressa) Crock of Lakeland, FL; and Marcia (Jeffrey) Wilson of Spring Grove; grandchildren, Brookes, Ryan, and Jordan Crock, and Brian, Jay, and Samantha Wilson; great-granddaughters, Emberly and Genevieve; step-daughter, Catherine (the late Ralph) Miller; brother, Arthur (Patricia) Thompson of Gurnee; nephews and nieces, Arthur (Christy) Thompson, Christine (Ryan) Rasmussen, Nicole (Melissa) Thompson, and Anthony Thompson; and by many great nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by former husband, Robert E. Crock; and step-daughter, Susan Crock.
Visitation Friday, May 7, 4-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Visitation will resume Saturday, May 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Willow Lawn Memorial Park, Vernon Hills.
