Richard T.E. “Dick” Sylvester, 80, of Spring Grove, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born August 2, 1942, in Aachen, Germany.
Dick was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the early, military-advisor days of the Vietnam War. He went on to enjoy a long career as a top research engineer for LyondellBasell Industries.
Dick traveled, and had friends, all over the world and he loved all of his many rescued dogs.
He was a very kind man and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Carol Ann (nee Gendusa); beloved son, John Sylvester; beloved sisters, Karin Jenkins, Yvonne Sylvester, and Anna “Maly” Henkel; beloved niece and nephews, Julie, Jerry, Carl, and Kevin; and many loving and beloved friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosalie Sylvester; brother, Ben Sylvester; and nephew, Curtis.
Memorial visitation Saturday, October 8, from 11 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 1 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dick’s name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or American Veterans (AMVETS), appreciated.
