Robert John Catalano, 76, of Romeoville, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Lightways Hospice, Joliet. He was born January 28, 1947, in Chicago.
Bob grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and Illinois Benedictine University. He went on to serve in the Army from 1967-1970 and have a 37-year career with Commonwealth Edison Chicago North, where he retired as an Underground Construction Supervisor. In retirement, he worked as a consultant for Meade Electric.
Bob enjoyed golf, was a sports encyclopedia, and an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sue Catalano (nee Fumagalli); children, Brian (Kim) Catalano, Amy (Scott) Goodale, Craig (Maureen) Catalano, and T.J. (Sue) Gruber; grandchildren, Courtney, Kyle (Yazmin), Christopher (Jett), and Blake Catalano, Jeffrey and Kayla Kussmann, Sophia and Emma Goodale, Kate and Owen Catalano, and A.J., Ben, and Abby Gruber; great-grandchildren, Ruby and Jaxson, and Jordan and Milo; son-in-law, Dave Kussmann; siblings, Linda Corso, Cheryl (Mark) Wakely, and Christopher (Bridget) Catalano; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Peg (Bob) Craven, Mark (Maureen) Fumagalli, Marilyn Fumagalli, Ann (Dave) Nelson, Louis (Kathy) Fumagalli, and Helen (Jim) Begeske; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Patricia Catalano (nee Fick); daughter, Dana Kussmann, great-granddaughter, Miley Bittinger; mother, Vera Stephensen (nee Pierini); and father, Leo Catalano.
Visitation Saturday, January 6, from 1 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 4 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. A reception will follow. Burial will be private in Grant Cemetery, Ingleside.
