Robert H. Stelter, 78, of Benton, KY, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021, in Benton.  He was born February 11, 1943, in Joliet, IL, the eldest son of the late Harold and Adele Stelter.

Robert retired from United Airlines in 2012, where he had been an aircraft mechanic.  He loved to travel, pilot his own aircraft, boat on the Chain of Lakes in Fox Lake, IL, and drive his corvettes to car shows.  Robert served in the Army, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and held a variety of offices as a member of the Fox Lake American Legion Post 703 and Lake Villa Illinois VFW Post 9566.  He was also a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lake Villa.

He was the loving husband of Margaret Stelter for 45 years; father of Krista (Michael) Oswald of Bloomingdale, IL and Robert (Maricela) Pauley of Round Lake Beach, IL; grandfather of Joshua, Alex, Jasmine, Aaron, Austin, Caleb, and Emma; great-grandfather of Noah, Ari, and Freya; brother of Susan (Warren) Parthen of Loudon, TN and the late Donald (Marilyn) Stelter of Joliet; and the best uncle to many nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Boobs.

Visitation Friday, August 6, from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral service and American Legion honors at 7:30 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake.  A reception will follow. Burial of Robert’s urn will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, at Grant Cemetery, Ingleside, IL.
