Robert “Bob” J. Kerner, 76, of Fox Lake, formerly of Buffalo Grove, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at home with his wife at his side. He was born February 6, 1944, in Chicago, to the late Karl and Betty (nee Groeller) Kerner.

Bob had a 55-year career in law enforcement having worked for the Winnetka Police Department for 33 years (1967-2000) and 20 years with the Libertyville Police Department (2000-2020), retiring this year due to illness. He was an avid golfer, and worked at the Fox Lake Country Club.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bob is survived by his wife, Nita (nee Frederickson); children, Kelley A. Kerner of Chicago, Jennifer (Matt) Luczkowiak of Highland Park, and Rachel (Josh) Paddock of Antioch; and grandchildren, Reece, Silas, and Sofia Luczkowiak of Highland Park, and Josie and Caleb Paddock of Antioch.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be announced for a future date.
