Robert “Rob” Lance Goebel, 38, a longtime resident of Fox Lake, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at home. He was born August 19, 1983, in Webster, Texas, to Carol (nee Pletz) and the late Ronald R. Goebel.
Survivors include his former wife and best friend, Jennifer Goebel and his beloved dogs, Dixie, Mason, and Paris; mom, Carol (Jeffery Lynn) Goebel; brothers, Darian (Megan) Goebel, Andrew Rodriguez, and Kevin (Sarah) Goebel; nieces and nephews, Ethan, Kendra, Michael, Alexis, Amanda, Matthew, Taylor, Patrick and Daniel; nine grand nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends.
Rob was a lifelong outdoor enthusiast, enjoying fishing, boating, swimming in his pool, and working in his yard. He was hardworking and excelled at learning new trades and acquiring new skills. He had a very sarcastic sense of humor that he was very well known for, as well as a heart of gold who helped many friends and family when they needed it. People who came in contact with him always enjoyed smiles and lots of laughs. He loved catching movies and trying new restaurants with his brother, Andrew. Rob loved to spend time with his dogs and backyard chickens. He was an advocate and volunteer for dog rescues, helping to save and foster over 300 dogs. He also volunteered in the Fox Lake community with Promote Fox Lake.
A memorial visitation will be held Monday, February 7, from 12 noon until the celebration of Rob's life at 4 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. You may view the livestream of Rob's service by clicking here. Inurnment will be private.
