Ronald E. Vermillion, Sr., 85, a longtime resident of Fox Lake, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. He was born October 25, 1935, in Elmhurst, to the late Delmar and Blanche (nee Pinta) Vermillion.
Ronald worked for over 55 years as an operating engineer with International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, darts, and bowling. Active in the community, he served as past administrator and governor of the Fox Lake Moose Lodge, was a local Boy Scout leader, a third-degree knight of the St. Bede Pius X Knights of Columbus Council 3788, and served as secretary of the Local 150 retirees club.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Stephanie (nee Winkler); children, Ronald Vermillion, Jr., Raedel (Leroy III) Munster, Michelle (Shane) Gerber, and Joseph (Penelope) Vermillion; grandchildren, Hayliee, Shawna, and Nicholas Kohon, Drew Barnard, Trista Munster, Kaela (Matt) Fronk, and Leroy Munster IV, Chelsey and Christopher Gerber, Peggy Vermillion, and Mary, Jaki, and Albert Bonfield; sister, Linda Rachunek; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by siblings, George (Dorothy) Vermillion, Rosemarie “Dolly” (Paul) Beyster, Jim (Vicki) Vermillion, and Gerald Vermillion.
Visitation Friday, February 19, from 4 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. While inside funeral home, face masks must be worn and physical distancing practiced.
