Susan Marie Stefka (nee Lehner), 81, of McHenry, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022, at home surrounded by family. She was born in Manhattan, New York on March 30, 1941, to the late Joseph Lehner and Elizabeth Coon (nee Clark). She was married to the love of her life, John Stefka, on July 15,1961 at St. Sylvester’s Church in Chicago, IL.

Susan enjoyed spending time in her yard, where she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed lunching, spending time with friends, and shopping.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, John Stefka, Michael (Susan) Stefka, Billy (Karen) Stefka, and Danny (Cindy) Stefka; grandchildren, Samantha (Scott) Diedrich, Tara (Jeff Fell) Stefka, Frank Stefka, Ryan (Kelly Summers) Stefka, Danielle (Brandon Rohner) Stefka, Austin Stefka, Kelsey (Jason) Blumenfeld, Bailey (Lauren Bostanche) Stefka, and Kayla Stefka; great-grandchildren, Mason Diedrich, Mia Diedrich, Grace Fell, Dash Stefka, Davin Summers, Brandon Rohner Jr., and Noah Blumenfeld; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, John; her siblings, William Lehner, Marion “Micky” Cook, and Joseph Lehner; and her nephew, Joey Lehner.

The family would like to thank Susan’s caretakers, Beverly Nick and Megan Madsen, and her dear friend, Carol Kiraly, for the help and care they provided Susan through the years.

Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the memorial service at 4:30 P.M. (you may click here to view the livestream of the service).  The visitation and memorial service will be held at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals & Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Susan’s name to Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
