Vincent J. Konwent, 78, of Fox Lake, formerly of Buffalo Grove and Wheeling, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Centegra Hospital, McHenry.
Born September 8, 1939, in Chicago, to the late Vincent and Lucille (nee Kategian) Konwent, he married Bernice Sakowicz November 14, 1959, in Chicago.
Vince was an avid car enthusiast, who was very proud of his 2003 Mustang GT convertible. He was a career member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Union Local 73.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bernice; children, Pat (Vassilios) Denaxas and Vince (Shirley) Konwent Jr.; grandchildren, Vinnie, Kelly, and Tommy Konwent; sister, Carol (the late Bob) Matula; aunt, Angie (the late Richard) Robenhorst; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many childhood friends from Chicago.
Vince was a firm believer in he who finishes with the most toys wins!
Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, from 4-8 p.m., at Hamsher Lakeside Funerals and Cremations, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake. Visitation will continue Friday, August 31, from 10 a.m. until the Celebration of Vince’s life at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
